Getting to know the IFS method
Usually, when we want to change something in our lives, we focus on the part that is «for» the change — the motivated, driven part. The parts that doubt or are afraid are left out of the conversation.
In the end, an inner battle starts: one part of you wants to move forward, while something inside keeps pulling you back. You know what you «should» do, yet you procrastinate, avoid or end up sabotaging your own plans.
IFS offers a different perspective. There are no bad parts. Even the most confusing or «irrational» behaviours usually come from a part that has been trying to protect you.
Internal Family Systems (IFS) — a parts-based therapy
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a therapeutic approach based on the idea that every person has different inner «parts» — each with its own role, emotions and needs. The method helps you build a relationship with these parts, listen to them, reduce inner conflict and restore a sense of inner wholeness.
When all your parts are heard, things become calmer and clearer inside. Change no longer comes from sheer willpower — it starts to unfold more naturally, as your whole system feels safe to move forward.
What’s inside the course?

12 live, 2-hour sessions with Guthrie
In each class we explore a specific part of the IFS model and watch Guthrie demonstrate it in a live session. Anyone can volunteer for the demo; even if you only observe, many participants notice meaningful shifts in their own inner system.
Triad format: client – practitioner – observer. You work with exercises based on the weekly teaching. Even if you don’t plan to become a therapist or coach, this practice helps you see how IFS works in your own psyche and in others.
Weekly practice: 14 triad meetings
Groups are formed by interests and time zone. Every week you practice recognizing parts and discuss how to apply IFS in your work and personal life. Each group is led by an IFS practitioner who helps you find a learning pace and format that works for you.
Small groups: 14 integration meetings
Plus, additional support
We meet for an IFS book club to read and discuss a book on the model more deeply. After every class you get access to recordings and materials for self-practice. In the first module we also walk through the full 18-step IFS protocol.
